Maddy Surman

Maddy is a second year HSPS student from Australia, who loves a great coffee and relies heavily on caffeine to function. She loves being involved in all aspects of college and university life, from getting down on the dance floor at bops, to playing in the netball team and, obviously, representing the student body through the SU.

As Vice President, she is aiming to ensure the smooth running of the SU as a team by assisting all officers within the Union to successfully and smoothly reach out to the college constituency, in whatever capacity is needed. Further, she will be supporting the President in bringing students and staff closer together, to aid a cohesive college vision for the future of Lucy Cavendish. Perhaps most importantly, she is a friendly face within college for any issues anyone may have, and are not sure who to voice them too. So please, do reach out if you have anything you need – she will be more than happy to help!

The Vice President acts in an assisting capacity to the SU President, having an active part in most activities in and around the College. This includes attending regular meetings with the SU committee, and the Governing Body of the College, as well as maintaining links between the College and the wider Cambridge University Student Union (CUSU). The Vice President is part of the executive committee of the SU, a set of positions that must be filled for the SU to run effectively.
